We have therefore decided to provide all of the information and resources on this page and provide a link to it from our prison pages. Government Policy - Healthy Children, Safer Communities
This cross-Government strategy aims to help tackle youth crime and anti-social behaviour, and contribute to community safety in England. It sets out a strategic approach to inform the work of the Healthy Children, Safer Communities Programme Board to fulfil the vision that children and young people will be safer, healthier and stay away from crime.
Children, Young Pepople and the Criminal Justice System
In the West Midlands work has been undertaken to provide a commissioning framework to support commissioning for services for children and young people in the criminal justice system. This supports organisations to promote young people's health and well-being and ensure they have fair access to comprehensive Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. This frameowrk links directly to "Healthy Children, Safer Communities".
You can acess the framework here, or through our resources section.
Improving the Mental Health of Children
The Yorkshire and Humber Improvement Partnership commissioned the Barnardo's CANA Project to carry out a Service User Consultation from July to September 2008. The purpose of the consultation was to capture the views of the young people and their experience of mental health services accessed within the Youth Justice System. This document is available here.
The team have also taken this document and updated their high level specification to support commissioners looking to improve the provision of emotional, psychological well being and mental health of young people in contact with the criminal justice system.
