Healthcare professionals working within a substance misuse service are often qualified to Registered Certificate in General Practice 1 or 2 or are working towards this qualification
Responsibilities often include;
- Providing specialist clinical care in substance misuse
- Working with a patient to develop and implement care plans based on their individual needs and goals
- Undertaking and overseeing the screening process for patients on reception to the prison
- Preparing patient's for discharge, release or transfer, ensuring that relevant agencies are contacted where release is imminent
- Developing and improving the substance misuse service, developing programmes such as peer support for patients
